Hamilton Day Tour

WEDNESDAY 29TH AUGUST, 2018

Depart Warrnambool Bus Depot 8.45am and Flagstaff Hill at 9am. Returning at approx 5.15pm.

It’s been a long winter and it’s now time to come out and enjoy the little peaks of sunshine!

Today we have a lovely day planned with a day tour to Hamilton.

Our first stop is at the gorgeous little café Catalpa in Tarrington – morning tea will include a selection of slices and a hot drink.

Soak in some of the beautiful older style houses in this German background town. Originally named Hockirch, the town was settled in early 1860s.

Tarrington hosts a Laternenfest every November, and a Christmas Hay bale competition all throughout the town.

Boarding the coach we take the short drive through Hamilton to the magnificent “Campe’s Motor Museum” . The museum is every motor enthusiasts dream come true – and home to an array of vintage cars and memorabilia.

The most notable attractions are the 1955 Ansett Clipper Bus; a Citroen 1933 and a stunning Stutz 1929. You are able to view motoring memorabilia, photos, antiques and are able to get close up to many of the vehicles.

Lunch today will see us visit the delectable “Izzy’s Restaurant” in Hamilton with a selection of 5 home-style cooked meals to choose from.

After refueling your body, we board the coach and meander out to the majestic Wannon and Nigretta water falls.

The Wannon Falls feature a spectacular hardened basal lava over which water cascades into a deep plunge pool below.  A cantilevered viewing platform offers spectacular views and a rotunda features interpretive signage for visitors.

Nigretta Falls has excellent viewing areas with a jarrah timber stairway leading to the base of the falls for the more adventurous!

We then board the coach to begin our journey home via Macarthur with afternoon tea at the Macarthur Hotel, which was built in 1860 and originally known as the “Travellers Rest” .
